For the ‘category’ search: We have divided news items into one (or sometimes more) of three categories.
1. State.  If the news refers to a single state only, this category applies
2. Offshore. If the news relates to the entire offshore sector, for instance BOEM announcing a new leasing round, it is filed under this category
3. Policy.  Where the item doesn’t relate directly to either a state or to the offshore sector (for instance tariffs on wind components or a FERC decision) it is filed under policy

He highlighted the success with the start of the Vineyard Wind project saying that the state would move to accelerate the development of ports and projects in New Bedford, Salem, and Somerset to ensure that his state remains at the forefront of the emerging industry.

The California Energy Commission (CEC) approved a $10.5 million grant for renovations at the Port of Humboldt Bay to support offshore wind activities in an area designated for development on the north coast. Once renovated, the new Humboldt Bay Offshore Wind Heavy Lift Marine Terminal will be capable of handling large, heavy cargo vessels, offshore wind floating platform development and integration and decommissioning, and other maritime activities.

New Bedford, Massachusetts (MA) will be adding another OSW installation, with Avangrid releasing plans to build their control center in the port city if selected for the state’s Commonwealth Wind project. Vineyard Wind has announced plans to develop Salem, MA, as their second major offshore wind port. The project, done in conjunction with Avangrid, CIP, and Crowley Maritime, will be a public-private partnership with the MA government and will join New Bedford as a hub for offshore wind activities in the region. The project is estimated to create around 900 full-time jobs over the next decade.
